Learn! Foundation supports children from humble backgrounds in Kilifi to achieve their dreams especially in the sector of education. Among the beneficiaries of this noble cause is one girl by the name Gertrude. She has been raised by a single father together with her siblings. The father does casual jobs and can therefore not support all the needs of the children. One of her brothers suffered cancer at young age and got his leg amputated.
Learn! Foundation stepped in to support her Secondary School education which she completed in the year 2020. Upon completion she joined Pwani university situated in Kilifi to pursue Bachelors Degree in Education in pursuing her dream of becoming a teacher. During weekends and school holidays she would volunteer at our Learn! Centre / Learn! Foundation’s office in teaching children about ICT and how to use computers to complete tasks given in school. She had an opportunity to practice her teaching job!
For many young people in Kilifi going to university for most remains a dream. We helped this young lady to achieve her dream and in the Month of April 2025 Getrude has completed her final exams and hopes to graduate by the end of the year.
