In the spotlight this week is 23-year-old Michael Musa, a shining example of resilience and determination from the rural village of Matano Manne in Kilifi County.
Michael’s journey with Learn! Foundation began in high school, where he received support to complete his studies at Vitengeni Boys High School, graduating in 2020. With college out of reach and the weight of supporting his family on his shoulders, Michael took up casual jobs to make ends meet. Despite the challenges, he never let go of his dream to further his education.
That dream began to take shape again when he was accepted into the Lamento Scholars Program through Learn! Foundation. Today, Michael is pursuing a diploma in accounting at the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic in Mombasa—a three-year course that marks a new chapter in his life.
Now in his first year of study, Michael never misses a chance to visit the Learn! Foundation offices during his breaks. He proudly shares his academic progress and always takes a moment to express his heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity that changed his life.
Michael’s story is a powerful reminder that with support, determination, and a bit of hope, even the most distant dreams can come true.
"If it weren’t for Learn! Foundation, I wouldn't be in college today. They gave me hope when I had none, and now I’m working hard every day to make a better future for my family and community,"
